Joint Commission Resources Quality and Safety Network
Program Description
Joint Commission standards are the basis of an objective evaluation process that can help healthcare organizations measure, assess, and improve performance. The standards focus on important patient, individual, or resident care and organization functions that are essential to providing safe, high quality care.

Joint Commission standards are developed with input from healthcare professionals, providers, subject matter experts, consumers, government agencies, and employers. They are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus and approved by the Board of Commissioners. New standards are added only if they relate to patient safety or quality of care, have a positive impact on health outcomes, meet or surpass law and regulation, and can be accurately and readily measured.

This 60-minute activity takes you back to the basics and gives you an overview of The Joint Commission standards and their impact on quality and patient safety.  This program helps your organization learn about resources that support The Joint Commission’s accreditation process.  The “Accreditation Primer” also explains accreditation concepts, including scoring, Evidence of Standards Compliance (ESC), Measure of Success (MOS), Periodic Performance Review (PPR), and continuous readiness.
