Immediate Jeopardy is a crisis situation in which the health and safety of (an) individual(s) is/are at risk. An Immediate Jeopardy finding indicates that surveyors have ascertained significant deviation from the standards of compliance as outlined in the Conditions of Participation (CoP) as to constitute an immediate potential threat to patient safety and health.
This 60-minute program features Joint Commission experts who share the components of an Immediate Jeopardy, the principles of an Immediate Jeopardy, the survey process to confirm an Immediate Jeopardy, and the implication of an Immediate Jeopardy finding.
After completing this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Identify the components of an Immediate Jeopardy.
- Understand the principles behind an Immediate Jeopardy.
- Describe how the survey process is used to confirm an Immediate Jeopardy.
This activity is relevant to all healthcare leaders, the entire hospital and medical staff, risk management professionals, performance improvement (PI) directors/Joint Commission coordinators, and nurse managers/directors.

This education offering qualifies for 1.0 Certified Joint Commission Professional (CJCP) credit hours towards CJCP recertification. In order to obtain CJCP credit hours, an individual must first be certified before they start acquiring CJCP credit hours. CJCP credit hours will not be retroactive.
Full attendance at every session is a prerequisite for receiving full continuing education credits. If a participant needs to leave early, his or her continuing education credits will be reduced.
